| New Sens tough guy Zenon Konopka in action for the Islanders last season |
The Sens just got a lot tougher, signing former Ottawa 67 Zenon Konopka to a one year, one way deal at 700k today. This will be the toughness they were looking for to help out veteran Chris Neil this season. Konopka is of course, known for his fighting, racking up over 300 penalty minutes last season with Long Island. He was also a member of the 1999 Memorial Cup Champion team here in Ottawa but was undrafted.
I have to say this is a solid signing, as it addresses a need we had going in to next season, and he is one of the toughest guys in the league and a favorite of many in the area from his 67's days. Plus at that price and only a one year commitment, you can't complain at all.
