Well that was a game wasn't it? The 2011-12 edition of the Sens are insanely exciting so far, which is awesome for entertainment purposes and ticket sales, but also good, at least for tonight, for wins. Ottawa was down 2-0 and 3-1, before battling back to tie at 3's and eventually taking it 4-3 in the shootout, sending the loyal fans at SBP home very happy tonight.
There were a few standouts tonight, but it was an overall team performance for the most part. Everyone chipped in, played hard, and never gave up after being down yet again. Sure is a big change from last years team who folded faster than Superman on laundry day. And you know what, it's awesome to watch. I think we all know we won't win that many games this season, but we sure are going to be exciting to watch, and that's enough for me.
Other thoughts from the game:
- The new goal song is Seven Nation Army
- The music as a whole was way better and more current than in the past
- Nick Foligno had a spirited game I thought.
- The entire defence struggled all night, especially with moving the puck out of our end
- Craig Anderson was solid but not spectacular. Though I wouldn't blame him on any of the 3 goals.
- Mika Zibanejad had some very fancy moves stickhandling wise.
- The red carpet event and the 1992-93 team ceremonies were pointless and very poorly done.
- Gonchar was bad....again.
- I thought Regin had a decent showing in his season debut.
- Rundblad was just so so in his NHL debut, which is what I was expecting.
- No sellout apparently = [
- Colin Greening had a nice game as well.
With one goal, one assist, 8 hits including one on Heatley and one bone crusher behind the net, plus an all around amazing game, Chris Neil wins the night.
Thoughts on the home opening win?
