"The Philadelphia Phillies are eyeing left-hander Gio Gonzalez and have discussed a deal that would send outfielder Domonic Brown to Oakland as part of the package, tweets Jim Bowden of ESPN Insider (ESPN)."
Shit, that deal just seems to make a lot of sense and I can kind of buying into it. The A's have said they are going to be looking for offense, so I guess Domonic Brown makes a lot of sense. Before the 2011 season he was ranked as the #4 prospect in all of baseball, and you know the A's love guys they can control for awhile (plus, Brown is only 24 years old). I personally think the Phillies would be getting the much better end of this deal, but I am also a big Gio fan.
Cliff Lee - Roy Halladay - Cole Hamels - Gio Gonzalez is just filthy, but they would need to find more ways to generate some offense.
***UPDATE***
Well that ended fast...
"The Phillies are definitely out on Gonzalez now, tweets Danny Knobler. They would have dealt Kyle Kendrick or Joe Blanton had they acquired him (MLBTradeRumors)."
The Tigers are interested, but not happy about the price. Nationals, Reds, D'Backs, and Marlins are all listed to be interested (fucking NL teams). You have to wonder if the Red Sox have shown any interest, since they are already reportedly discussing Bailey with them. There were reports last week that the Sox might have some interest, so maybe there is some hope the Sox will actually do something productive this offseason.
