Red Sox Out Of Money?

Seems like a silly thing to say, but the more you hear the rumors around the Red Sox, the more it seems to be true. The Red Sox are out of money.

Well, kind of. It's not they are out of money, just out of money they are willing to spend. Boston is right up against the tax cap. Meaning if they go over it they will basically will be taxed an extra dollar on every dollar they spend.

I get why they don't want to over over that. It's kind of crazy to pay it, but when you are coming off a year like the Red Sox had, and you have the highest ticket prices in the league, fans expect more. What also makes them look terrible if that they were will to spend crazy money on a soccer team, but not the Red Sox.

Once again, I get it. There is so much dead money on the team right now (Lackey, Dice-K, Crawford, ect) that seeing the reason to throw away more money is crazy. Yet, this the terrible taste of last season fresh in fans mouths (not to mention the foolishness ownership has shown this offseason) you just have to wonder how much support Red Sox Nation is going to have for the 2012 Red Sox.

This could all still change. They could make a trade (like the one I planned out with the White Sox), or maybe they do have enough and start out hot, but I have no doubts right now.
