The Texas Rangers have hired Shayne Kelley as a major league staff assistant and part of his duties will be to support Josh Hamilton. This is after Hamilton fell off the wagon last week and was spotted drinking at a bar.
By now you guys all know the story. Hamilton was a mess and missed the entire 2003, 2004 and 2005. He was heavy into booze, drugs, ect. Kelley is said to have a strong religious background, which if you have ever read Hamilton's book, is probably the best thing.
Basically Hamilton needs to go all Tim Tebow. Seems to be the only way he keeps his head on straight. The Rangers are playing this smart. They are keeping someone with him at all times, and they haven't signed him to a long term deal. You would think this latest "incident" is going to lower his value, and to be honest I think that Hamilton should take a "team friendly" deal with the Rangers after everything they have done for him.
