It was discovered that Jeff Green will require surgery on his aorta and miss this year with heart surgery.
Well this sucks. This was supposed to be Jeff's year, with the Celtics losing out on David West, Jeff was going to be the key to the second unit and keep Paul Pierce and to some extent Kevin Garnett's legs from getting tired.
The thing that makes it worse is that the trade with Perkins really looks like a bust now. Nenad Krystic is over seas playing in Russia, Jeff is out for the year, and the Clippers now have Chris Paul and their pick will surely be high. I doubt we would have been able to sign Perk, but we could have at least sign and traded him.
As for replacements, I only see 3 options; James Posey, Deshawn Stevenson or Al Thornton. Obviously, I would love to have Posey back. But he's not the same player he was in 08, and all he does is shoot 3's now, Deshawn Stevenson is a good defender but allergic to offense and Al Thornton can sky, but plays no defense at all.
Either way, get better Jeff
