Many thought that after Odom was shipped out of LA that the Lakers were now the front runners for Howard, that could be the case, but the latest rumors have the Lakers pushing hard (once again) for Paul.
The latest news is that the Nets have brought in another team to make the Howard trade.
Tweeted Stein: "In most advanced scenario discussed, Blazers swingman Gerald Wallace would join Nets center Brook Lopez as principal pieces Magic would get. Remains to be seen if Orlando can indeed be convinced to part with Howard before season but this deal would also let them shed Hedo Turkoglu/Chris Duhon contracts."
The Blazers would get picks out of the deal, but I still don't really get why they would want to be part of this, unless they really just don't want Wallace involved in their future. Anyways, it's something to keep an eye on.
