Red Sox Do A Sweet Job In Losing Out On More Pitching

Gio Gonzalez has been traded to the Nationals. The Athletics will receive right-hander Brad Peacock, catcher Derek Norris, left-hander Tommy Milone and right-hander A.J. Cole, a team source told ESPN Insider Keith Law.

The Sox definitely have enough in their farm to get this done, but opted for keeping the youngsters. This now leaves the Sox still scrambling for SP, and even the guys that I am hopeful for like Edwin Jackson, won't happen. The Sox are pissing me off, but they only have to pay 3.4 million in luxury tax so that's something.

As for the A's, I just don't get it. They built up some really good talent by shipping Trever Cahill and Gio, but it's not like they ever gave them a chance. At least with the Mulder, Hudson, Zito days they let them play on the team until their final year of their contract. The A's are just trading away young guys for the hell of it seems, I think Billy Beane has gone mad.

Also, good for the Nationals for going for it.
