With Papelbon leaving and with Daniel Bard going to the rotation or staying as a set up man, the Red Sox need serious bullpen/ closer help and Andrew Bailey will fit into that perfectly.
The former Rookie of the year has had an oft injured career thus far, but has been impressive. in 3 years he has pitched 157 times for 174 innings, with a 174Ks, 75 Ks, and 2.07 era.
I wouldn't miss Reddick and I would feel Bailey would be fine as a closer for the Sox. I am a believer that anyone can be a great closer, and other than some injuries Bailey could be that. Bailey's has three main pitches, a four seam fastball, a curveball, and a cutter. Bailey has a very good fastball that he can locate well, coming in at 93–97 mph. Bailey's cutter is also effective at 89–92 mph, and is his strike out pitch. Bailey's curveball comes in at 78–80 mph, but Bailey usually is his set up pitch.
So I'm for it. Well, I'm for the Red Sox doing anything at this point!
