Red Sox Sign Nick Punto

The Championship moves keep on coming for the Red Sox as the Red Sox signed a better more reliable Jed Lowrie to a 2 year deal. Actually Lowrie may be a better player, but I was tired of him being injured for 70 games a year for hang nails.

Punto played 66 games for the champion Cardinals last year, hitting .278 with an .809 OPS in 166 plate appearances. He played 45 games at second base while also seeing time at shortstop and third base. During his 11-year career, Punto has played for the Phillies (2001-03), Twins (2004-10) and Cardinals. A lifetime .249 hitter with a .652 OPS and 14 home runs in 887 career games.

I mean he's nothing special, but at least he will be reliable. I think he and Nick Green are the same person actually.

Also, the Sox are in on talks with Andrew Bailey for trading for the closer that way we have Mark Melancon as the set up guy. Me and our friend from Hotlanta got into a discussion about the whole "pitching in Boston thing". For starters, I believe it's factor but for relievers I don't think it makes a damn difference. For a reliever whether you pitch in Houston, Oakland or Boston, every pitch is pretty much pressure. If they are successful one place, I don't see how they won't in another.

Also, I love the Daniel Bard move to the rotation. We saw CJ Wilson, Alexi Ogando and others succeed at the transition. Bard has filthy stuff and believe he will be a success in the rotation. As for Aceves.... I believe he's too important in our bullpen.
