Who The Fuck Do The Marlins Think They Are?

Mark Buehrle joined Heath Bell and Jose Reyes in baseball's Miami migration. Miami has been throwing around major contracts to those 3 stud free agents to the tune of, 58 million dollars/ 4 years for Buehrle, 27 million/ 3 year for Bell and 106 million/ 6 year for Reyes. Dominating the market under art dealer-owner Jeffrey Loria, the Marlins increased their spending spree to $191 million in less than a week. They also are rumored to be in on the Prince Fielder sweepstakes after getting tired trying to get Albert Pujols.

The crazy thing about this is Miami just doing this to try and get a nonexistent fan base? Are they going to even have a fan base? When they were the Florida Marlins they won the World Series in 97 and 03 and consistently had excellent players come through their system and be competitive and still couldn't get fans, so what changes now? Although Tampa Bay isn't Miami they have teams that could be in the World Series every year for the past 3 years and still have no fan base. So is getting a new stadium with a retractable roof and 200 million dollars in salary going to get fans in Miami? I really don't know, but since I like what the Marlins are doing, I certainly hope so.
