Carl Crawford Got His Wrist Scoped

When Boston Red Sox left fielder Carl Crawford "started increasing his hitting activity … right around New Year's, he experienced soreness in his left wrist," Sox GM Ben Cherington said, according to MLB.com. It wasn't' going away and has been there in the past so Crawford opted for surgery on Tuesday, which may keep him from being with the team on opening day in April. Yahoo

Well, as much as I am concerned and even if he misses the 1st couple of games, I'm not going to freak out about this. If this will help him in the long run, I'm all for it. I of course wish he got this done a little earlier, but whatever, what's done is done. And before everyone freaks out and pretends like they are baseball experts and say, "well wrist injuries are killers", Vernon Wells underwent surgery (performed by the same surgeon) to repair cartilage in his wrist in mid-November after the 2009 season. That was a season in which Wells had gotten on base at a .311 clip and slugged a career-worst .400. Wells played 157 games the following season and saw his slugging percentage jump to .515.

So this could really help Carl out in the long run and make him the .307 batting average with 19 homerun hitter he was in Tampa Bay.
