With Ryan Madson signing a one-year, $8.5MM deal, that means all the worth while closers/ Bullpen guys are gone. I liked Madson and still held out hope that even with Bailey and Melancon on the Sox, they would surprise us and pick him up. However, they didn't and the Reds scooped him up to replace Francisco Cordero as the closer. I like Madson a lot, he pitched in a high pressure bullpen and team and will help the upstart Reds significantly.
Another thing is that this is another failure for Scott Boras, who I think is starting to lose his mojo. He always messes around and has most of him clients sign late, and it will be very interesting to see what happens with Prince Fielder.
