"The one thing you have to address with Randy Moss is not a conditioning thing. It's not an age thing," Carter said during a Tuesday appearance on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning." "It needs to be addressed. I believe it's the elephant in the room. It's that thing called quit.
"And Randy, not like any other superstar I've met, he has more quit in him than any of those other players. So I need to address that. That's what [Bill] Belichick did when he brought him over from Oakland. He told him he wasn't going to have it. But Randy, when things don’t go well, like no other player I’ve ever been around or associated with, he has a quit mechanism in him that’s huge. That needs to be addressed before he signs with any team."
I don't like Chris Carter. There is something about him that always bothered me, but he is 100% right about this. Moss has given up on too many teams for someone to go down that tired old road again. Some of you might consider this a bold statement, but at this point I'd rather have Owens then Randy Moss.
Moss was the most incredible WR the Patriots have ever had, but even when he was on top of his game he would take plays off. He doesn't go over the middle, and basically runs 1 route. I am getting sick of hearing how the Patriots should bring him back. The last thing the Patriots need is a quitter, and with the talent that is out there for free agents there is no need to take a chance on a guy like him.
If 1 thing goes wrong for Moss, or he isn't happy about 1 thing, that's it. He will cash his checks and do nothing. Ask the Raiders, Titans, Vikings, hell even ask the Patriots when he got pissy about his contract and decided to throw a hissy fit. Fuck that noise, he ran himself out of the NFL, keep him there.
