So Is Prince Fielder Going To Sign Soon?

Spring training is really not that far away, and Prince Fielder is still looking for a home. There are some rumors that he could sign by the end of the week with the rumored teams interested are the Orioles, Rangers, Nationals, and Dodgers.

I don't see Fielder going to the Orioles, because they just aren't that good, so unless they cave and throw crazy money I don't see him going there. The Rangers just spent a ton of money on Davish, and I don't know if they will have the cash to go get him, although I do think that's the best place for him. The Nationals seem to be the favorite. They are known for throwing around money, and are a very up and coming team. The Dodgers are the wild card in my opinion. There is an argument that this team would be worth more if Fielder was on the squad, the other side is that there will be no offer until after they are sold.

So my opinion is that he should go to the Rangers, but will end up with the Nationals.

Dodgers About To Sign Chris Capuano

"The Dodgers are closing in on a two-year, $10MM deal with left-hander Chris Capuano that will round out the team's rotation and may signify the end of Hiroki Kuroda's tenure in Los Angeles. Capuano joins Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Ted Lilly and Nathan Eovaldi in the Dodgers' rotation after a bounce-back season with the Mets. He has the chance to earn $1MM in incentives (MLBTradeRumors)."

Wow, two Dodgers post in the same day, and it isnt about how they are going under? Pretty incredible. Anyways, other then his 18 win season back in 2005 Capuano really hasn't done much. He has had an ERA above 4 each season except 1, and a losing record every year since the before mentioned 18 win season. He isn't a terrible pitcher, and is a decent guy to fill the backend of your rotation. I bring him up because there were rumors earlier on that the Red Sox might look to a guy like this. I am not at al let down that they didn't.

Mark Cuban Making Bid For Dodgers

"Like he did when the Rangers were for sale, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says he'll join the bidding for the Los Angeles Dodgers, which could begin next week, according to the Los Angeles Times (CBS Sports)."

DP and I have said it time and again, Mark Cuban would be a great thing for baseball. The MLB hasn't had that kind of polarizing owner since George Steinbrenner died. Cuban has everything I would want in an owner. He is a fan first, he has a shit ton of money, and he pisses league officials off on a regular basis.

I am trying not to get my hopes up too high, as Cuban has bid on teams before and lost. He won't do it unless the deal is right, and there were early reports that the Dodgers were looking to be sold for $1 billion. Cuban (and probably the rest of the world) thinks that sounds outrageous. Whatever the cost I hope at the end of the day Cuban owns a teams, because the MLB would be a better place for it.
