The Final Episode

The last episode of Senate Reform was unveiled today and it was definitely the best of the four, not that that's exactly saying much is it. It features behind the scenes of the 2011 NHL Draft, with footage of approximately 1000 handshakes and fails to deliver the true insight and behind the scenes action we'd really like to see.

As a whole, I applaud the Sens organization for at least trying to do something to get us excited about the new wave of players for our future, but like I've been saying all along, the end result of the video series left a lot to be desired.

Episode 3

Episode 3 of Senate Reform is here and like the prvious 2 installments, it is a bore and poorly filmed. Is it me or does it look like a high school project they way it's edited and put together? At least there's only one episode left. Let's all hope Friday's actual draft goes a lot smoother.

Also odd to note that all the proespects were assigned #11 to skate in. Now I know this is because they're draft year is 2011, but still kind of a weird move to give them the iconic #11 worn by Alfie.

Episode 2

After episode 1 being a bit of a bust, episode 2 of Senate Reform is here, mostly featuring potential draftee interviews, which of course is pretty boring. It was interesting to hear Ty Rattie say his comparable NHL player is Jason Spezza, which I'm sure had made them immediately scratch him off their list. Enjoy episode 2.

Episode 1

A few weeks ago I posted the Senate Reform teaser video, though no of us were quite 100% sure what it was. I had heard rumblings of a behind the scenes video, but it was just a rumor. Well today was the day we found out what it was, and it is a 4 part behind the scenes look at the NHL draft process.

Basically it's a no frills version of HBO's 24/7 or TSN's Oil Change. Well the execution isn't really there in the camera work and narration (went with Gord Wilson of course), I do at least applaud the organization from trying something new. Although I have to admit, episode 1 left a lot to be desired. It was a nice attempt, but in true Senators style, the didn't do it properly.

Still, it's worth a watch, as it's only a few minutes long and some of you may happen to enjoy it more than me. Hopefully episodes 2-4 will pick up a lot more.

Senate Reform

I'm not exactly sure what's coming June 6th, but I am curious to see. It's an interesting date they chose, since the video is all about the NHL draft and the 2011 draft edition isn't until the end of June.
