I Don't Really Get What The Red Sox Are Doing

I have been looking at this Red Sox offseason and although it could seem disappointing they have done pretty well, with their new nickle and dime technique. They have completely reformed their bullpen and got 2 pretty good young pitchers to be be their set up man(Mark Melancon) and closer(Andrew Bailey) and all they had to give up was Jed Lowrie, Kyle Weiland, and Josh Reddick. Not bad.

But I will not, and I cannot accept the fact that Carlos Silva will be on this team and have a role on it. This guy is the worst, and yesterday we signed him and 11 others to minor league deals. I know that there is a good chance he still won't make the team, but I literally woke up last night in a cold sweat nightmare thinking about his 87 MPH fastball that can't break glass, his hanging curve and his remarkably low K rate.

It's became more and more evident that the Sox just don't want to spend money, so if that's the case you can throw names like Edwin Jackson who is demanding a 5 year 60 million dollar deal, and Hiroki Kuroda who wants a 1 or 2 year deal at 11 million each out the door. And all of us can dream about Matt Garza, but the Cubs are asking for an absurd amount of prospects from teams and since leaving the Sox, I don't think Theo would be willing to go out of his way to give them a pitcher. We can't even get compensation for him from the Cubs.

So who will we be stuck with at our 5 spot? We have Lester, Beckett, Buchholz, Bard right now, so if I had to predict who are going to be the candidates, I'll go with Joe Saunders, Rich Harden or Chris Young. And my preference out of those 3 would probably be Saunders...
