This would have been a great win, but the injuries and defensive lapses killed them. The story of the game had they won would have been Rajon Rondo who was the only person who was being aggressive. Rondo finished with 35 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. He shot 15 for 27 from the field and was just on fire. Wilcox and Jujuan Johnson had decent games as well with 17 and 10. Pierce and Allen were non existent.
This game felt like what could potentially happen after the big 3 is gone. Rondo did everything in his power to win and everyone else was mediocre. I don't know what is going on with Pierce but this is the 2nd straight stinker he has put up with 10 points on 3-11 shooting, but I wonder if it has to do with Rondo's big game. I have hinted at it before but it seems when Rondo has a monster scoring game, Pierce has a bad game. I wonder if it's coincidence, I hope so. Because if it is the issue, then that explains a lot when Rondo only has 10ish points and defers the ball the whole game.
Ben Gordan killed us and the play that killed us was when Avery Bradly for some reason decided to double team Greg Monroe and leave Ben Gordan (who has been on fire) wide open at the 3. That play put the Pistons in the lead for good and gave them all the motivation. After that Pierce/ Allen couldn't get a shot.
This loss really annoys me. Especially since it's before a long, tough road trip.
