Dueling Couches Heisman Watch 2012

1. Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia
I'll tell you what, I didn't expect him to be so good so fast. Murray has that QB look and put up 2,861 yards with 22 TDs and 12 Ints. The Bulldogs over achieved this year with winning their division of the SEC and playing in the SEC Championship game. With Alabama and LSU pretty much losing their defenses this off season, Gerogia could be one of the elite teams out of this conference.

2. Denard Robinson, QB, Michigan
Robinson had to learn a new system while playing through both an elbow abscess and a staph infection. Despite that, he put up 2,000 yards through the air and more than 1,000 on the ground for the second-straight season. He's a play maker, exciting and most importantly he has a name. If he can get his footwork down in the pocket and cut down his interceptions, shoelace can literally run away with it.

3. EJ Manuel, QB FSU
If EJ Manuel didn't get hurt in the beginning of the year, there is a good chance that FSU could have beat Oklahoma, Clemson and Wake Forest, bringing their season to 11-1. EJ threw for 2,417 yards with 18 TDs and 8 Ints with 4 rushing TDs on an injury plaques season. Florida State is going to be real good next year in the ACC and EJ is going lead the team.

4. Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
Wilson made people forget quick the loss of Ryan Mallet. In his first year as a starter, Wilson completed 63 percent of his passes, threw for 3,400 yards and had 22 touchdowns to just six interceptions. Like I mentioned earlier Bama and LSU are surely going to lose steam for at least a year, so this could be a team that puts up monster number. Wilson's senior season could be historical.

5. Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina
Leading into this season many people had Lattimore winning THIS years Heisman. Unfortunately, a torn ACL crushed those dreams and South Carolina's season. With fresh legs and weaker SEC defenses, Lattimore could be a force.

People I left out: Tyrann Matthew (CB) LSU and Geno Smith QB (West Virginia)
LSU won't be the same team next year and Geno Smith is the same thing as Tyrod Taylor.

Dueling Couches Heisman Watch

1. Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
Last week I said getting hurt may have cost him a chance for the trophy, but in his words, "I think Baylor may have it's first Heisman". RGIII has had the most impressive year for any QB and is the sole reason Baylor is anything. This weekend Griffin passed for 320 yards and 2 scores and ran for 32 yards and 2 more, including a 10-yarder in the third quarter.

His season stats are: 3,998 yard, 36 TDs, 6 Ints and a 72%, with 644 yards and 9 TDs.

2. Montee Ball, RB, Wisconsin
Montee Ball has had a hell of a year and will most likely finish the year with more than 40 TDs. Even though Russell Wilson gets all the credit, Ball is the guy that has been putting up god like numbers. In the victory against Michigan State this weekend he ran for 137 yards and 3 TDs on 27 Carries and caught one more pass for a score. He now has 38 TDs on the year.

Season stats: 275 attempts, 1759 yards, 6.4 ypc, 32 TDs, 20 rec, 255 yds, 6 TDs

3. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
Richardson got killed last week by not playing. With Griffin III and Ball putting up huge numbers that could have been the nail in Trent's coffin. Trent is the only reason Bama's offense is scary and he will make the best NFL RB out of the buch, he has the speed, size, awareness and toughness to succeed. He gets stronger as the game goes on and can run through or around opponents and never fumbles the ball. He's my favorite player in college football this year, but not playing in a SEC championship may have killed him.

Season Stats: 1583 YDS, 20 TDs, 6 YPC, 27 REC, 327 YDS, 3 TDs

Matt Barkley, QB, USC
People forget that USC would be 5 overall if not for the suspension and Matt Barkley is a lot of that. He couldn't play in the Pac 12 championship due to the suspension as well. He is the best QB in the Pac 12 and has been able to shine in the biggest games this year.

Season Stats: 3528 Yds, 39 TDs, 7 Ints, 69.1%, 2 rushing TDs

5. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
His name may actually get him this award which is devastating. Luck didn't play in a Pac 12 game like Barkley.
