Blood Bath

The man in trouble in this video is Sens prospect Ben Blood from the Univeristy Of North Dakota. It seems he didn't care for the way the game ended and took out his frustrations on the Universoty of Minnesota's player while shaking hands. Not the best move but with a name like Ben Blood what can you expect right? To read the full story click here.

I personally think it was unsportsmanlike, but that's about it. It wasn't THAT bad. He was frustrated and angry and did a minor stupid thing. He will pay for it but no need to rake him over the coals for it.

Turris v Briere. Yep, You Read That Right

It was one of the most unlikely fights in years. Kyle Turris drops the mits and so does Daniel Briere? Weird. They're so bad it's good. Enjoy.

Chris Neil v Eric Boulton

From tonight's 3-2 OT win. While we're at it, can Neil please stop self hyping the crowd up after EVERY fight/ If the crowd isn't already cheering for you take the hint.

The Lehner Situation

At first, reports were that Lehner had gotten into a fight with the officials during the brawl with Syracuse, but as the video clearly shows, it was more a resisting type thing. It still isn't good but less bad than originally thought. It should help him suspension wise but I'd still have to imagine he's getting at least 5 games.

The Carkner/Lucic fight from tonight's game. A couple of big boys going at it here. I'll call it a draw.

Konopka v Fraser....Takes Over NHL PIM Lead

This was quite the tilt between Sens tough guy Zenon Konopka and Ottawa native Mark Fraser. After the fight Konopka was pretty unhappy with something. It couldn't be his new status of NHL PIM leader could it? This wasn't the pairs first rodeo however. Evidence and video after the jump.

As you can see, as a result of the Fraser fight, Zenon Konopka is the new NHL penalty minutes leader and also has 2 more fighting majors than anyone else in the league right now. Congratulations, I think?




The also battled last season when Konopka was a member of Long Island.

Boogaard's Death May Have Ottawa Link

Yesterday, many in the hockey world were shocked to hear of the death of 28 year old enforcer Derek Boogaard. He was found dead in his apartment in Minnesota, where he had played for the Wild for 5 seasons after being the 202nd overall pick in the 2001 NHL Draft. In the offseason he left as a free agent for the big apple and the New York Rangers, but unfortunately things didn't go as planned.

The 6 foot 7 inch, 265lb giant enforcer only managed to suit up 22 times for the blueshirts before his season was over at the hands of Sens player Matt Carkner on December 9th, 2010. During the game in which the Rangers won 5-3 at SBP, Carkner and Boogaard tangled and #94 was on the losing side of things. He was unable to return to the lineup the rest of the year because of severe concussion problems. It was the last time he ever played in the NHL.

The results of the death won't be known for a few weeks apparently, but one way or another, you would have to think this fight with the Senators tough guy played a major role in his demise. It's a sad ending to a story that will likely becomes more common in the future. On behalf on Sens Town, my condolences to his family, teammates, friends and anyone who knew him.

Zack Smith vs Nathan Horton

The season may have ended on a sour note this afternoon, but there was a very entertaining fight during the game from Zack Smith and Nathan Horton. This was arguably the most fun fight of the season, so in case you missed it here it is, and if you've already seen in, watch it again.
