The Sens took it 3-2 in overtime tonight, the winner being scored by rookie Jared Cowen, on a nice pass from fellow dman Erik Karlsson. Unufortunately the NHL's leading goal scorer Milan Michalek left the game and didn't return. One step forward, two steps back.

Sens Rooks Dominate Opener

The pre pre-season got underway yesterday with a rookie game, with the Sens taking on the Pens in Oshawa. The Sens prospects dominated pretty much start to finish, taking it 4-0. Robin Lehner got the shutout, Corey Cowick added two goals, while Rundblad and Cowen were standouts on defence. Cowen Looks Right At Home

Shoutout to Sens prospect Jared Cowen, who recorded his first AHL point in last night's series clinching win over Portland on his very first AHL shift. Not a bad to start your pro career off. Respect! In case you were wondering, Cowen wears #4 for Bingo instead of his usual #2, since that digit is being used already by Eric Gryba.

A few days ago I told you that Jared Cowen's team was eliminated in the WHL's playoffs and that his Junior hockey career was over, but likely not his season. Now it has been confirmed that the big fella will suit up for the Binghamton Senators for game 6 against Portland on Friday night. I'm sure the B-Sens are more than happy to get the news since they've been playing severely shorthanded on the back end, with Derek Smith, Eric Gryba and Patrick Wiercioch all not playing. The Baby Sens can win the series with a win, so let's hope Cowen helps them out.

Cowen's WHL Career Is Over

Jared Cowen in action as Captain of the WHL's Spokane Chiefs

Sens blue chip prospect Jared Cowen's junior hockey career is now over, after his Spokane Chiefs lost in the WHL's playoffs last night to the Portland Winterhawks. Cowen, who has the 9th overall pick in 2009, is now eligible to join the Binghamton Senators for their AHL playoff run, should the Sens choose to add him, which I'm sure they will. Their next game is tomorrow night, but it seems unlikely he will be able to make it and suit up in time to ironically face Portland (though yes I know it's a different one in a different state).
