Sens Sign Silfverberg

It was already a very busy day in Sens Town, but it just got busier, as the Sens announced that they have signed prospect Jakob Silfverberg to a three year entry level contract. The Swedish youngster, who was drafted 39th overall in 2009, spent this season playing in Sweden for Brynas in the SEL, finishing 3rd on the team in points, just 2 behind former Senator Andres Dackell. Many in the Sens Army predict big things from Jakob, myself included, and although this has been rumored for quite awhile now, it's nice that its been made official.

Thoughts on the signing?

Sens Duo Get Silver

Future Sens teammates David Rundblad for Sweden & Jason Spezza for Canada battle for the puck
Shoutout to Senators prospects David Rundblad and Jakob Silfverberg, who earned silver medals while playing for Team Sweden this afternoon. The duo lost to Finland 6-1 in the final, but still get the silver of course. Look for Rundblad to be patrolling the Sens blueline next season. Congrats to both from Sens Town.

Silfverberg & Rundblad Named To Three Crowns

Two Sens prospects who have never played in the NHL, have been named to Sweden's entry for the upcoming World Championship. That's a pretty impressive feat if you ask me. The expected player named, is of course defenceman David Rundblad, who should be suiting up for Ottawa next season. The surprise addition is forward Jakob Silfverberg, who had a strong season and opened up some eyes to get on the team. The future is looking better and better for the Sens isn't it? You also have to think that Erik Karlsson would have been on the squad had he not been injured late in the season.

Rumor Alert: Silfverberg Coming To North America Next Season

Jakob Silfverberg at Sens prospect camp
Now keep in mind this is just speculation at the moment, but it appears there's a solid chance that Swedish Sens prospect Jakob Silfverberg may be heading to North American to play next season according to this article. I've done my best to translate it online and I've posted it after the jump.

Many Sens fans see great promise and potential in Silfverberg, who is now 20 years old and was drafted in the 2nd round, 39th overall, of the 2009 draft. He has been playing in the Swedish Elite League. I will be sure to update it should it become official but excellent food for thought right now.

Would you like to see him come play in either Ottawa or Binghamton next year?
