God I Miss Perkins

I wasn't the biggest Perkins fan. I was against the trade, but overall nothing about Perkins made me love him, but now looking back I like that he was just an angry dude. It seems like little has changed as he takes shots at LeBron...

"Perkins then found himself on Twitter, where James, among others, could not contain his amazement over what he had seen.

"Dunk of the Year! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!!! Wow! I guess I'm No. 2 now. Move over #6," James tweeted, apparently referring to his own dunk the day before over Chicago Bulls point guard John Lucas III being relegated behind Griffin's poster-quality jam.

Perkins told Yahoo! Sports that he didn't appreciate that.

"You don't see Kobe (Bryant) tweeting," Perkins said, according to the report. "You don't see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you're an elite player, plays like that don't excite you.

"At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play. They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2," Perkins added, according to the report. "I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him (ESPN)."

Ya damn right Perkins. Remember when LeBron had everyone take the tapes of him being dunked on? Remember how LeBron is suddenly friends with Tebow, because Tebow is popular?

Perkins was spot on with his comments. LeChoke is so worried about his "legacy" and "image" that it makes him shrink to nothing in the 4th quarter. He will never be what Kobe or Jordan were. Those guys didn't give a fuck, all that mattered was winning.

I'm normally not a dunk guy, but these two have been absurd the past 2 nights.

The Eddy Curry Comeback

From ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst: "Eddy Curry has lost around 100 pounds. Yesterday he worked extra hour after practice and they literally had to mop up his sweat. Might play tonight ... Curry said he stills gets winded easily and won't be able to play much. Since Heat have no center, just 5-7 minutes would legitimately help."

I was surprised when the Heat signed him, because I feel like he hasn't touched a court in years (played 7 games last year, 3 the year before). It has to be good news for the Heat that he has lost so much weight, but why does he still get so winded? I don't know how much he has left, but the Heat really need him to do SOMETHING, because they are terrible at the center postion (Joel Anthony/Dexter Pittman).

It's kind of amazing that Eddy Curry is still just 29 years old.

Heat 115, Celtics 107

Normally, if the Celtics were winless on December 27th, there'd be cause for concern. But with the abbreviated season and the lack of Paul Pierce, I'm not terribly worried. The C's were a few key plays from beating Miami in Miami. All without Pierce.

Then again, they needed outstanding nights from Allen and Rondo to even be close. Allen was 6/8 with his 3 pointers, and Rondo scored 22. Rondo was the only Celtic who seemed capable of playing with speed. They also got 18 from Kevin Dooling.

What they didn't get was much production from Garnett. I hardly noticed when he was on or off the court. He scored 12. O'Neal didn't score at all and Pavlovic only scored 5. Without Pierce, KG needs to be more of a factor. And guys like O'Neal need to do something.

I don't think the C's will struggle to beat the mediocre teams of the NBA, even without Pierce for 2 more games. So while they're 0-2, I doubt they'll struggle to win games. However, they do need to improve in a few areas if they want to do anything memorable in the playoffs.

Shane Battier To Sign With Heat

Battier announced on his Twitter account today that he plans to sign with the Heat when free agency opens on Friday afternoon. This to me sets in stone that the Heat will use their amnesty clause on Mike Miller.

Battier averaged 7.6 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies last season. He seems like a very good fit for the Heat. I actually don't mind any of this because I have never liked Shane Battier (fuck Duke).
