Super Button Mashers

Here's a piece I created based on the NES game Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! It's currently featured in the Super Button Mashers art show at the OhNo!Doom arcade and gallery in Chicago.

Ye Olde Mario World

My newest T-shirt design which you can vote on here. It's an old-timey version of the world map from Super Mario World. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun; I really get into stuff with somewhat tedious detail work like this from time to time.

Working on this also took me back to when I was a kid and I really enjoyed going through all the extra materials that came with video games like the boxes and manuals. I used to sit and draw out maps like this for individual levels which I thought was just as much fun as actually playing the game.

I'm thinking this would make a good poster too. Please click on the image to get a much larger and detailed view.

The Legend of Zelda

Here is my contribution to the Fill Up Your Hearts blog. My parents gave my older brother a Nintendo for Christmas of '86 (i think) and from then on we were hooked. We only had a few games starting out and this was one of them and it's still one of my favorite games.

The Hyrulean Book of Biology

My humble offering to the Zelda tribute blog, Fill Up Your Hearts! Charley Harper was, and is, one of the greats. I can't begin to compare, but I'm sure he'd be fine with how much fun I had with this.

Whoooo Zelda

Please Post Bills

For Gallery 1988‘s upcoming exhibition “Please Post Bills”, dedicated to comedic legend Bill Murray, I chose to do a companion piece to my Ghostbuster’s piece from “The 3G Show”. My piece, Ugly Little Spud, depicts the scene when Murray’s character, Peter Venkman, comes face to face with his first Class 5 Free-Roaming Vapor, better known as Slimer.

Eggplanted

Inspired by Kid Icarus. This piece is displayed at FLAQ Gallery in their 8bit Champions Show.
It was done in pen and ink on canvas textured paper.

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong, my next show piece with Gallery 1988 Venice for the Old School Video Game Show!

I picked Kong because it literally was the first video game I ever played as a kid. Years before Nintendo, my dad bought me a Colecovision, you know the one with the paddles? At the time it was considered the generic Atari. Kong was the first game I ever received. So for me Donkey Kong is about as "old school" as I could ever get.

This show is going to be insane and overflowing with talent and this show will be especially fun because I'll be joined with a few of my fellow PLANET-PULP mates and Autumn Society Alumns. Joining me will be Tom Whalen, Scott Derby and Dave Perillo along with fellow Pulper Stan Chow

Join us September 16th
214 Pier Ave.
Santa Monica, CA 90405

You can buy this print on the Gallery1988 website a day or two after the show starts providing they don't sell out, in which case I'll be selling the remaining artist proofs I have, just email me.

8 Bit Champions

Here's my piece for the upcoming 8-Bit Champions show in Paris, France. My first international show!

I've been playing a lot of Zelda lately as I unwind in the evenings, so it was the game I chose to illustrate. For more info about this piece you can check out my post about it here.

Mega Man NES Clock

One of my latest illustrations is a tribute to an NES fave - Mega Man!
The cool news is that they've been made into NES cartridge clocks.
There's only 10 made and so far half have sold.
If anyones interested you can grab one for 40$ at Level Cap Clothing

Or if you'd like a print - I'm selling those too (just email me at Makibas@gmail.com) for 25$ + shipping and handling. They're 13x19 giclee prints unframed.

A recent drawing for my upcoming album. You can check out the first track here. It's called: Everyone's Better (At Super Smash Bros Than Me)
